Ephesians 3:20 is a favorite children’s bible memory verse, but how many know the story behind this verse?
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.”
Paul was a great missionary and went around planting churches everywhere. This particular letter he wrote to the church in Ephesus. Paul had planted this church and then came back later and stayed with the church at Ephesus for 3 years.
Paul wrote this letter to the Ephesians because he wanted to remind them about the incredible gifts God had given them and to encourage them to use them.
Paul writes an incredible prayer in Ephesians 3:14-21 on behalf of the Ephesians. In it he prays for the indwelling Christ to strengthen them and that they would know how great the love of God is toward them. In Ephesians 3:20, Paul glorifies God for His willingness to answer prayer beyond the Ephesian’s wildest imagination and to use His power on their behalf.
Now you know the story behind Ephesians 3:20.
