Galatians is a favorite bible memory verse, but how many know the story behind the verse?
“I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
The great missionary Paul planted these churches in Galatia on his first missionary journey.
Paul wrote this letter to the churches of Galatia because he saw they were weighed down by guilt and trying to keep the Law again. He warned them about false teachers that had come in telling them that they had to keep the Law in order to be saved.
In Galatians 2, Paul exhorts the Galatian churches not to return to works of the Law. In Galatians 2:20 he reminds them that they have died with Christ who loved them and died for them. It is now Christ who is living in them and they live by faith and not by works.
Now you know the story behind Galatians 2:20.
