Kid’s will remember, and more importantly understand, Bible memory verses if you tell them the story behind the verse. The story behind Galatians 2:20 is about the apostle Paul talking to Christians who lived in a country called Galatia. He was talking to them about God love, and how they can live the Christian life.
Paul remind the Galatians we are made holy by faith in Christ not doing works.
Remind your children that when they gave their life to Christ, their old self died and now every day Christ is living the Christian life for them. It is like when they put on their clothes in the morning, Christ is inside. It looks like them on the outside, but inside it is Christ living in them.
Now your kids are ready to understand and memorize Galatians 2:20,
“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now
live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me”.
As they memorize, focus their thinking on how the memory verse ties into the story:
- Christ is now living through them. They can substitute their name in the verse above where they see “I”.
- They let Christ live in them by trusting Him for everything in their day; school, friendships, sports, etc.
