Top 100 Children’s Bible Memory Verses: Grace And Truth – The Story Behind John 1:14

John 1:14 is a favorite children’s Bible memory verse, but how many know the story behind this verse?

“The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.  We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

This is one of my personal favorite versed in the Bible.  Why?  Because not only does it tell me that Jesus is God and came to live among us, but that He was full of grace and truth.

Grace reminds me that God is always on our side and ready to forgive us and to provide us all His resources in order to help us succeed.  We all need God’s grace every second of every day.  And He is there to provide it no matter how badly we may have messed up our lives.

Truth reminds me that God is always bringing truth to us.  Just like Jesus brought the truth of sin, love, heaven and hell into stark reality, God brings truth into our lives so we can grow and change to be more like Jesus.

Around our house we like to say that ‘reality is our friend’.

Jesus came to this world speaking the truth in love (grace) so that all would have the opportunity to know Him and therefore know the Father.  In that way they could come to know the joy of fulfilling the purpose for which God put here on this earth.

Now you know the story behind John 1:14.
