“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are, yet was without sin.”
The unknown author of Hebrews encourages Hebrew Christians to put their faith in Christ and His superior work and person.
KTMTTMT – Keep the main thing the main thing. It is so easy to get distracted as Christians. This writer put it very simply, keep Christ the main thing.
In Hebrews 4, the author explained that Jesus is the believer’s High Priest. He was not like the Old Testament High Priests, but He is the heavenly High Priest who sits at the right hand of the throne of God to intercede for us. He does not go into God’s presence in the holy of holies only once a year, but He is constantly in God the Father’s presence.
In verse 15 the author wrote that Jesus the High Priest has experienced all the temptations that the readers experienced so that Jesus can sympathize with their weaknesses. He was not some far off God who could understand the believer’s troubles, but He came and went through them all.
We all have this same High Priest. Our children can boldly go into the presence of their heavenly Father because Jesus is right there with them interceding on their behalf.
Now you know the story behind Hebrews 4:15.
