“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders us and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
The unknown author of Hebrews encourages Hebrew Christians to put their faith in Christ and His superior work and person.
KTMTTMT – Keep the main thing the main thing. It is so easy to get distracted as Christians. This writer put it very simply, keep Christ the main thing.
In Hebrews 11 the author described so many Old Testament saints who had gone before and put their trust only in the promises of God. Even in difficult circumstances God had always been faithful to them.
In Hebrews 12:1, the author encouraged his readers that because God had been faithful to so many over the years, that they too put their faith completely in God. They were to let go of anything that would snare them and keep them from running well this race of faith that God had put before them.
