Top 100 Children’s Bible Memory Verses: What Is Faith? – The Story Behind Hebrews 11:1

Hebrews 11:1 is a favorite children’s bible memory verse, but how many know the story behind this verse?

“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”

The unknown author of Hebrews encourages Hebrew Christians to put their faith in Christ and His superior work and person.

KTMTTMT – Keep the main thing the main thing.  It is so easy to get distracted as Christians.  This writer put it very simply, keep Christ the main thing.

The author told these Christians that the one thing they could trust in in this life is Jesus.  No matter how big the obstacles, they could trust Him.

Then the author gave them Hebrews 11:1.  Faith is believing and acting upon what you can’t see because you trust God.  This verse sets up the rest of the chapter in which the author gives a long list of famous Bible characters who chose to trust in God even when they asked them to do something very scary.

Noah built the ark, Abraham left h homeland without knowing where he was going, Sara bore a child when she was old, and so on.
