What the Bible says about Kids Money Age 18 Part 3

Save for Expenses

As Christians we are to prepare for the future and using our money to save for the future is part of that plan.  God has amazing plans for each and everyone of us and some of those plans are about how we can take care of ourselves.

Jeremiah 29:11  For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Our lesson here is how your young adult needs to learn how to save. A good goal for them to have is to start by saving up at least three months worth of living expenses. Here are some how to ideas:

1) Make a list of your expenses (rent, bills, food)
to see how much you spend each month;
this will help you estimate how much you’ll
need to save for three months’ worth
of expenses.

2) Talk about where they should store the money like a federally insured bank.

3) Talk about trying to save at least six to nine months of expenses if you can.
